Medicare supplements or MediGap plans :
These plans are identified by the letters A-L and are standardized with all insurance carriers. These plans Do Not include a prescription drug plan.
Medicare advantage (MA or MAPD) plans :
Generally, these plans have copays for services and may or may not include a part D drug plan. There are three types of Medicare Advantage plans HMO, PPO and PFFS.
Stand Alone drug plans ( PDP):
These are for prescriptions only. The PDP plans are the result of The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, a federal law that brought the most dramatic changes to the Medicare program since it began in 1965.
